POLICE were called to a domestic dispute which broke out during the Young Picnic Races at the weekend.

The 18-year-old male victim told police he was approached by a group of females around 1.30pm near the mens toilets at Toompang Racecourse, one began abusing him and then he was set upon by another female who tried to choke him before onlookers intervened, pulling her off the victim.
Later that afternoon the male victim was approached again, this time by a 50-year-old male who warned him to keep away from his daughters.
This was followed by a slap to the face from a 20-year-old and the victim was then punched twice before falling to the ground.
The victim reported the assaults to police on Monday morning and investigations into the incidents are continuing.
A BRAWL at a local hotel that spilled into the middle of Lovell Street resulted in one local man having to be transported to Canberra Hospital.
According to police the fight broke out at approximately 10.50pm on Saturday.
What started as a brawl indoors between two brothers and a 23-year-old male ended in the middle of the street with one brother, aged 23, sustaining bruises and abrasions to the face, and the other brother, aged 20 with a bleeding nose.
The 23-year-old was transported to Young District Hospital before being conveyed to Canberra Hospital.
Police are currently reviewing CCTV footage from the night and are also calling on witnesses to assist with their investigation.

POLICE are happy with a drug enforcement operation that took place in Young at the weekend, despite two people being charged with possession of amphetamines.
The operation, which involved around nine police officers and a drug detection dog, took place in licensed premises and other locations in Young’s CBD on Saturday night.
Acting Inspector Michael Madgwick said two sweeps were conducted during the evening.
A 23-year-old and a 36-year-old will appear in Young Local Court at a later date.
