Holly entered the 2014 Canon Australian Professional Photography Awards and came away with two medals.
More than 3000 professional photographers enter the awards each year but only a handful come away with a top award.
Holly earned praise from the judges in the wedding and family photography categories in just the second year she has entered.
Entrants can watch live as the judges critique their work, a process Holly said is extremely nerve wracking.
“It really helps you see where you are among your peers,” Holly said.
“Points are awarded between 50 and 100, but they only give out awards for high professional standard which is a mark of 80 or above.”
Holly earned a silver distinction award for her wedding print and a silver award for her family portrait print.
One judge labelled her wedding print “breathtakingly beautiful”.
“I cried, I was so happy,” she said.
“My wedding print was sitting on silver but it was challenged and bumped up to a silver distinction.
“I’m incredibly excited and humbled to know that my work is up there with some of the best in the country.”
Holly said she was pleased her work has been recognised by such a respected jugding panel with countless years experience in the business.
“I love what I do and it’s nice to get that validation and know I’m good at what I do,” she said.
But she’s not resting on her laurels, aiming for bigger and better things next year.
“I’m going to try to keep doing it every year,” Holly said.
“I’m aiming for gold.”
