The three Cherry Queen hopefuls even had a spot on national breakfast TV.
Young Tourism manager David Newberry said as well as being a great experience for the three women, it was invaluable publicity for the town.
“We certainly noticed we had people who had seen the footage on the beakfast TV calling in enquiring about the Cherry Festival,” he said.
In a hard-fought bidding war, Paul Sironen - representing Sydney Markets Independent Retailers - prevailed over NRL legend Steve “Blocker” Roach with a bid of $33,000.
Not to be outdone, “Blocker” donated his bid of $32,000, bringing the total raised to $65,000.
The money raised went to Save our Sons and the Sydney Markets Foundation.
