Councillor Ben Cooper put forward two nominations for council’s Community Recognition Awards at their monthly meeting last week.
His first request was for Young sign writer Aaron McDonald from McDonald Signs and Print to receive the award for volunteering his time to teach members of the Young Youth Council how to create a banner for the Young Cherry Chase in November.
The results are what we see draped above Boorowa Street, at the western end, and tied to Young High School’s fence in Campbell Street.
Cr Cooper also recommended sporting advocate Jessica McInerney for the same award for her involvement in local sport.
The councillor said the Hennessy Catholic College teacher heavily participates in netball, touch football and league tag.
“She’s on [almost] every committee in sport,” he said at the meeting.
“For that, we should recognise her contribution to sport in the Young Shire.”
