Over 540 participants from both Young and surrounds strapped on their runners in what organiser Ben Cooper described as, “an amazing turnout, terrific community support and involvement, and a great family day out”.
“Events like the Cherry Chase are important for towns like Young,” he said.
“It generates economic benefits, promotes our town positively and gets visitors into town.”
The 117 brave 10km runners were the first to step out on the course that wound through the back roads of Young over tar and gravel surfaces.
Following close behind were the 370 participants who chose the less torturous option of the five kilometre track.
Pip The Cherry conquered the course on the day, as did Superman who buzzed around the track.
Overall Brad Hetharia, Jacob Tiernan and Jacob Lucas were first to cross the line in the 10km run, with Ben Cottle, Scott Murray and Russell Robinson taking out the top three for the 5km run.
Organisers are pleased with the positive feedback they received on the day, with participants particularly pointing out the impeccable organisation, as well as the effort put in by volunteers.
