A spokesperson for the Queensland Department of Justice and Attorney-General confirmed a prisoner transfer request was issued in the Brisbane Magistrate’s Court yesterday for Owen Fuller Junior, 19.
“The transfer application was ordered by the Chief Magistrate, Judge Ray Rinaudo, having been consented to by the Queensland Attorney-General following a request from the NSW Attorney-General,” a spokesperson said.
Fuller is wanted by Cootamundra police in connection with the murder of Corey Power, who was bashed to death in Wombat Street, Young, on August 29 last year.
Mr Power, unrecognisable after the assault, was found alive but unconscious by an early-morning walker after being bashed.
He later died in Young District Hospital.
Fuller is expected to be handed over to NSW corrective services within days and subsequently face a NSW court.
Cootamundra LAC detectives have indicated he will be charged with murder.
“In accordance with the court order, Queensland Corrective Services will make arrangements with NSW Corrective Services for the transfer to occur,” the Queensland Department of Justice spokesperson said.
“For security reasons, QCS cannot disclose the timing or transport arrangements for prisoners.”
