They were joined by a number of those who had left at the end of 1963 after completing Fourth Year.
In all, 30 former students plus 23 partners had a thoroughly enjoyable time eating, imbibing and in particular renewing old acquaintances and reliving countless memories.
The reunion was organised by Rosalie Manns (now Dennes) with assistance from others, most notably Roger Hall, who cajoled people into writing potted life stories which he compiled in a booklet, and Rod Chapman and Dennis Norman who produced a DVD which included a chat with former teacher, Barry Saxby, photographs from the reunion, memorabilia and a segment highlighting the school.
The life stories revealed many achievements.
Just a few: Irene Woodbridge (Jones) became manager of hospitals and health services in Bathurst, Lithgow and elsewhere; Graham Osborne has practised as an architect and was principal architect in the United Arab Emirates and Brisbane City Council; Trevor Shelley honoured by the PNG government for his service to rural development and the community and Jan Riddell (Salter) who has made her mark as a noted alpaca breeder and Francophile.
A number of people rightly remarked that the stories told of quite extraordinary accomplishments by a group of kids from a middle-sized country town and its outlying centres.
This was in no small part attributable to the very dedicated and professional teachers at the school, many of whom taught the class members throughout their time at the school.
The last reunion was 25 years ago. Enthusiasm for the concept, not to mention advancing years, dictates that the next will be much sooner.
