MC Max Hofman kept the crowd entertained and the evening moving along.
The crowd enjoyed a very tasty meal prepared by the Young Services Club.
Presentations were made to the winners and runners-up of all competitions and club championships.
Club Champions for 2014 are: Men’s A Grade Scott Druett, Women’s A Grade Sandra Veness, Men’s B Grade Steve Corbett, Women’s B Grade Sandra Richens, Men’s C Grade Lee Armstrong, Women’s C Grade Melinda Tierney, Mens D Grade Bailey Coombes, and Women’s D Grade Sally Flanders.
A number of special awards were also presented during the evening.
The Most Improved Senior Player was presented to Dean Kinlyside.
Bailey Coombes was awarded Most Improved Junior. Sportsman of The Year award was accepted by Mick Ashton.
Club Person of the Year was picked up by Linda Rogers.
Men’s A Grade Champion Scott Druett and runner-up Geoff Palmer combined with their table to triumph in the trivia quiz.
All who attended were encouraged to buy the answers to the quiz for the cost of a gold coin.
All money raised by sale of the quiz answers was donated to the Michaela Perrin Family Fund.
The egg and spoon race held at the end of the presentations proved that the competitive spirit is alive and well away from the squash court.
The Squash Club’s AGM was held on Tuesday, December 2.
All executive positions were declared vacant and thanks were extended to the outgoing committee, in particular to retiring president David Coombes, secretary Vicki Flanders and club captains Craig Tierney and Bob Thackeray.
The executive committee for the Young Squash Club for 2015 is: President Scott Druett, vice president Dean Kinlyside, secretary Kerri Palmer, treasurer Leanne Ford, club captains Robyn Jones and Geoff Palmer, media manager Cherie Baker and publicity officer Linda Rogers.
The committee for 2015 would like to invite all players to nominate for the opening competition of the new year, the summer single round competition.
This competition will hit off in early February. Nominate and pay your comp and membership fees now and then you can relax until February.
Annual memberships for adults is $35 and for juniors is $25.
Fees for the summer single round competition are $15 for adults and $10 for Juniors.
Juniors are eligible to play from 14 years of age.
Nomination forms are available from the courts.
And just a reminder that all members of the squash club are required to be members of the Young Services Club.
