It was a response the Young CWA ladies were hoping for but didn’t expect to be so big come the start of the National Cherry Festival.

The night prior to the festival, eight local women from the Country Women’s Association held a cherry pie cook-off with the aim to sell the finished products in their store over the festival.
They made 30 pies, from which every cent made will go back into maintaining the Boorowa Street shop.
But by 11.15am Saturday, the store only had two pies remaining from the cook-off.
Shopkeepers had to resort to selling other cherry pies made from CWA members, but weren’t part of the cook-off or fundraising campaign, to meet demands.
Shop president Yvonne Tredinnick was so excited about the response, it led her to chase down one of The Witness journalists when she spotted them in Boorowa Street on Saturday, to share the good news.
“We’ve had everybody coming in to buy a cherry pie,” Yvonne said.
“We only have two left!”
“The support has been terrific.”
