Paul has been described by his parents, Bill and Anne West, as a son who lived an incredibly full life in a way that was much larger than life.
They said that since his death they have been told many stories that reflected Paul’s character and some of the adventures in his life - some perhaps his mother didn’t want to hear, she said jokingly - but nonetheless they demonstrated the hugely popular sometimes larrikin lad was one who was also a tremendously loyal, caring and sensitive friend, and doggedly determined to live life his way.
Paul, a former Young High School student, died as a result of injuries he received in a single vehicle accident that occurred just two kilometres from the small village.
Husband to Kristy, Paul was the father of two young boys - Jack and Charlie and stepfather to Kory, Jessica and Jai. He also has a brother Tom and sister Stacey.
His mother Anne allowed The Witness to run a tribute she wrote earlier this week.
“Yesterday at 7.30am we lost our son Paul, to the horrific injuries he suffered in a car accident. This has rocked our world. Paul lived life at a million miles an hour, he was a bright shiny star. He had a big personality and his two beautiful boys Jack and Charlie were everything to him. In his 36 years he achieved so much. Anything Paul wanted to do, he could do - build kitchens, fix cars, garden, paint trucks, anything !! He made riding a motorbike look easy, and he never worn out the front tyre. He could even wheel stand his Harley.
RIP Paul, we will love and miss you forever.”
A funeral service for Paul will be held at the Bribbaree Memorial Hall next Wednesday, January 14 commencing at 10am.
Paul’s funeral notice has been published in today’s Witness.
