With the first of eight races timed to start at 6.08pm and the usual free admission, the first meeting for 2015 looks set to be the first of many successful promotions for the progressive Riverina club.
The majority of starters have been racing consistently over recent weeks with Canberra, Wagga, Junee, Goulburn, Parkes, Temora and Bathurst clubs providing ample opportunity for trainers to gather up some of the increased prizemoney that has been on offer.
Racing opens with running of the three-year-old pace over the 1720 metre journey with a number of the runners resuming from a spell.
One of those is the Bathurst-trained Pass The Magic for Bernie Hewitt.
On previous good form and from a favourable gate, the race looks set for a front running winning performance from the nicely bred pacer.
Dangers could be the pole marker Beau Studleigh who was a winner two starts back and again is well drawn while Promise Approved for Dennis Picker, although drawn awkwardly, should be running on over the concluding stages.
Murringo trainer Garth Hoy has last start winner Cherry Express showing some improved form and may be the knockout horse in the $5100 opening race of the night.
Moving on to race two, again over a similar distance and with a capacity field, the chances include Libiamo from the Shaun Snudden stable who has been racing in good form and Gun Smoke Shannon who has won at its last two starts and having the services of competent Western Districts driver Max Hughes.
Of the other runners, possibly In The Midnight Hour and back marker Mattjestic Star come into calculations following some good form of late.
The knockout horse in this could be the last start Parkes winner Mammals Maker for Bernie Hewitt.
The win last time out was an indication of the current fitness of this improving pacer.
Race three goes out to the 2100 metre start in the back straight and is for pacers assessed at C1 to C4 with another $5,100 up for grabs.
Grenfell pacer Holly Camp Girl has bounced back with a last start win making it three wins in five starts and two minor placings over recent racing and looks well placed in this event.
Upsey Daisy has the pole mark and can run a bold race if allowed to dictate the pace while Mortal Enemy who is also a last start winner will have the last shot at the leaders over the concluding stages.
Jay Peez Mate won first up after a spell but is drawn out wide, others with claims include Scots Legacy and Precious M.
Race four is for horses that have not won in their last six starts, again back to the shorter 1720 distance.
Fairy Dust has the services of Dennis Picker and is drawn well, the race to the first turn could have a bearing on the final outcome.
Nathan Hurst has Usher knocking on the door and did race at Bathurst last Friday night.
Daniel Rowell will remember the last time Hard To Hear won a race, it was in fact on this track last year and a repeat performance could be on the cards for trainer Patrick Bourke.
Mirrool trainer Stephen Maguire started Forty Seven Tricks at Wagga last Thursday night but on previous form could be better suited here in race five.
Bathurst trainer Peter Bullock has his team firing and Taylor Shannon has caught the eye with three excellent seconds in recent weeks and will possibly start favourite in this type of race. Others with claims include Yearn For You to be driven by Brad Hewitt from gate six and The Matrix at good odds each way.
Race six is an encouragement stakes for horses trained by a trainer who has not yet won a race in the 2014/15 season and assessed not better than a C1.
No doubt the local money will be for the Mark Gullen-trained Waterbug who grabbed third money at Temora last week and is certainly on the improve.
Barrier manners may be a factor but the way this fellow runs on indicates another placing is on the cards.
If the timing is right, Temora trainer Garry Grant could surprise with the well-bred Lincoln Park who is by Art Major from a Holmes Hanover mare.
West Wyalong trainer Rodney Crowe could be rewarded for his patience with Confederate Girl, a pacer who has taken a while to hit its straps but tomorrow night could be the night.
Race seven accommodates pacers who have not won in their last six starts and are classed as C1-C2 pacers.
Shaun Snudden gets his chance to take home some big dollars with Corey Bell taking the drive behind Rock Albert, albeit from an awkward draw.
Canberra reinsman Scott Osmond continues to frequent the Young track, drives for National Capital trainers proving to be profitable at the moment.
He will take the drive behind the consistent Claire Elizabeth and as the advantage of gate one. He is a driver who likes to lead and this could set the race up for a good finish.
Other starters with claims include Devil Dust and Masterpiece Melody for Nathan Hoy. The final race of the night, race eight looks a tough race on paper and lady luck may play a role in the final outcome.
Again Scott Osmond looks to have a great chance with Bob Swagger who has ran two good races since resuming finishing fifth last time out following a previous win in good company.
The dangers to the Canberra pacer include Sonny Studleigh for Jake Davis and Diesel Shannon, who has identical recent form to Bob Swagger, both horses having enough form to trouble the number one selection.
Possibly Village Witch could surprise in this, a place chance not beyond this Village Jasper-trained pacer for Josh Powderly.
Another top night of racing, Lions Club barbecue, on course TAB and bar available to patrons will again ensure a top night of racing.
