Her three young daughters, in the car at the time of the collision, remain in hospital.
The family - who were in the process of moving from Sydney to Young and temporarily living at the Young Caravan Park - were travelling towards Young when their car rolled near the Barwang Road intersection, about 20 kilometres south east of Young, at about 2.20pm.
The vehicle collided with an embankment and rolled before coming to rest against a tree.
The 38-year-old driver was trapped in the wreckage but her daughters – aged nine, 12 and 15 – were able to free themselves and flag down a passing car to call for help.
The driver was airlifted to Canberra hospital but she died some hours later.
Her 12-year-old daughter suffered leg fractures and a broken shoulder and was airlifted to Canberra by the Rescue 26 helicopter, dispatched from Wollongong.
A nine-year-old girl and 15-year-old girl were transported to Canberra Hospital by road after sustaining minor injuries.
Police, NSW Ambulance Paramedics and Fire & Rescue NSW officers attended the scene and released the driver.
The road was closed for a number of hours after the accident.
Cootamundra Local Area Command detectives, local police and Goulburn Crime Scene Investigators were called to the scene.
Acting Inspector Michael Madgwick said police were still investigating the cause of the accident.
“We’ve got indications to tell us what direction it was sliding...there’s nothing in there to suggest it was speeding,” he said.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or use the Crime Stoppers online reporting page: https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au/.
The same day of the accident, a woman and two children were lucky to escape serious injury when their car rolled on the Olympic Highway.
Police said a 28-year-old woman from Kingsvale was driving a car with two children when the car left the road and rolled at about 11am.
All escaped serious injury, but one child was taken to Young Hospital for observation.
