All the information is available in their office, located within the Lambing Flat Museum complex.
The group offers a wide variety of equipment at their premises, including historic police gazettes, micro-films, micro-fiche readers, computers, over a hundred CDs with records of family history, local rate books, old phone books, government gazettes, historic church records and electoral records.
The premises also have two new reverse-recycle air-conditioners thanks to a recent state government grant in 2014.
Former president Margaret Hall is one of the members of the group who has dedicated countless hours collecting information to share with the community, as well as researching her own family history.
“The group was formed in August 1983; this resulted from several of us having completed a course on family history through adult education,” Ms Hall said.
“Those of us finding a need to further our research banded together and formed the Young and District Family History Group which during the last 31 plus years has continued to grow and prosper.”
The group has always aimed to promote and encourage the study and perseveration of family history.
More importantly, they try and gather and preserve as many of the local records as possible to ensure that they may be available for future generations.
Anyone can sign up to join the group, costing $30 for an annual membership, $40 for a family and $10 for people aged 10-18.
The cheap price for 10-18 year-olds is to help encourage the younger generation to get involved with their family history.
The Young and District Family History Group is open on Wednesday from 10am to 2.30pm and Saturday from 9am to 1pm.
If anyone is interested in joining, they should call 0428 132 217 or 6382 4382, email youngfamilyhistory@bigpond.com or head down to the premises on open days.
