And as another school year dawns - with three still aged under four years - nothing’s about to change any time soon for the local family.

Classes for 2015 resume today in Young’s schools for Years 1-7 students and Hennessy Catholic College’s senior students.

Most of the shire’s Kindy students will start big school tomorrow, except for those attending Young North Public, who will start next Tuesday.

Meanwhile the remaining years will be back in class tomorrow.

This year parents Jason and Patricia Reynolds have five children enrolled at Young High School and Young Public.

Five-year-old Alexander (Moo) steps up into kindy as 17-year-old Joshua steps down and into a new building apprenticeship after graduating from Year 12 last year.

Patricia said it’s all about strategy and routine as they and their nine children get ready for either work, school or daycare of a morning.

“Everything is done the night before - lunches are packed, clothes ironed, put out and ready to go. All bags are packed with their home readers and homework is completed and in,” Patricia said.

Everyone is out of bed by 7am and within the hour Lauren (16), Thomas (13), Lachlan (11), Jasper (7), Alexander (5), Phoebe (4), Toby (3) and Hamish (five months) are dressed, have eaten, brushed their teeth and hair, and are out the door by 8am.

Patricia said they have a buddy system operating every school morning.

“The older kids help out a lot… it’s their job to help someone once they’re ready,” she said.

“Everyone helps out everyone to make it all work.”

For a mum who’s quite experienced now with school starters, Patricia encourages new school mums to remain positive and not to worry.

“You can’t let your fears flow through to them (your child) because they pick up on it,” she said.

“Have a happy attitude, be positive. The schools are great, there’s nothing to worry about. If they have concerns they’ll ring you.

“And enjoy it, because their school years are the best in their life.”
