The Southwest Slopes Credit Union Twilight Hockey Competition entered its second week with plenty of sun and absolutely no moisture in the air. Plenty of dry mouths and water all round.

First match of the day saw White Trash and DTS 2 doing battle with a lot of running! James Brown it seems needs to get himself some shoes with more grip but other than that had a pretty good game.
Peter Lister, Luke Cosgrove and Bronte Rathjen scored for White Trash, while the ever hard working DTS 2 were not able make the score board this week.
Golden Oldies and Vipers were next in line with a very tight game indeed. Ending in a 3 draw this game had plenty of short corners, great practice for winter guys!
Elyse Telfer, soon to be McKnight, Lachlan Dodd and Brayden Jurd scored for the Golden Oldies, while Alex Blomfield scored once and Robyn Veness scored twice for Vipers, also ‘taking one for the team’.
Hard luck Robyn, hope it’s not hurting too much!
Alpha and DTS 1 certainly had a hard fought game with the following people scoring for Alpha; Matt Zuzek, Elliott Dodd, Alex McLachlan, Jason Reilly, Brendan Robinson, Ninad Jalinek, Tom Sanderson, Ryan Laybutt, Hannah Laybutt.
Lewis Taylor scored for DTS in his second game ever, making me wonder if he is going to be our high scorer for the twilight comp.
Well done Lewis.
Gators and Pink Panthers had what was seemingly a very fast game.
The Rudd Boys certainly teamed up well to provide strength in both attack and defence. Angus, Jake and Steele all scoring for Gators this week.
Pink Panthers were a very strong opposition with Danni Johnson certainly showing her skills. Outstanding effort.
Those girls from Coota certainly take their hockey very seriously with Di Lonnen scoring both goals for the team. Well done in what was a great match to watch.
White Trash and Hornets played yet another fast paced game with newcomer Morgan Walsh showing a lot of promise for a future in hockey, scoring for her team along with newcomer Molly Maloney, who scored twice, and Dylan Muggleton.
All of the scorers for White Trash are newcomers and I hope to see more of their games in the coming weeks watching these players grow in strength.
Hornets favourite Luke Cosgrove scored for his team along with Clinton Bell, yet another newcomer.
Marg Cosgrove made a brief appearance this week and I know that she enjoyed the run. Good on you Marg.
Fun and fitness, or lack there-of (of fitness) were on the agenda for the game between Golden Oldies and DTS 2 with a close match seeing Golden Oldies only just winning the game.
Plenty of good sportsmanship from both teams was on display.
Michael Skillen, Mark Smithers, Courtney Foster and Joanne Garlick all scored for DTS 2 and Loren Wilkinson 2, Elyse Telfer, Scott Tierney and Brodie McKnight all scoring for Golden Oldies.
Navy Seals and DTS 1 both backed up to play a second game for the day. It was a great game between the teams with the youngest players.
Well done to all the kids who enjoyed what appeared to be a fun and fast game.
Ashleigh McInerney, Joe Zuzek and Archie Dwyer all scored for Navy Seals and Lewis Taylor shined again for DTS 1 just popping the ball past that lone defender to score his goal.
Is that a goal for each game you’ve played so far? Congrats again to Lewis!
White Trash and Alpha had a good running game both playing their second match for the day.
A Hugh, Ben Allen, Morgan Walsh, Dylan Muggleton, Tessa Long, Luke Cosgrove and Peter Lister all scored for White Trash and Tracey Laybutt scored the lone goal for Alpha.
Junior players from Alpha played very well by all reports and Morgan Walsh had a great game for White Trash.
Last game of the day saw Vipers with a win over the Mighty Ducks.
Robyn Veness scored twice, Kerry Edwards, Alex Blomfield and Hayley Saines scored for the Vipers.
How did it feel being up the other end of the field Hayley? And scoring to boot! Jenna Hosken and Scott Tierney scored for Mighty Ducks in what turned out to be a fun match as well, both showing they have not lost any of their skill or determination during the hockey break.
