St Mary’s Primary School Year 6 student Grace Gibson was among four students chosen from 23 competitors.
She was up against tennis players from Canberra, Queanbeyan, Tuross Head, Temora and Moruya who competed at the Young Tennis Club tournament last week.
Grace was among three students from St Mary’s, alongside Alex Block and Macklay Brown, to trial for the side.
Students were judged on their performance on the court and their general attitude and behaviour.
It’s a first for the junior tennis enthusiest who looks forward to gaining experience throughout the trials.
“I’m really nervous but very excited,” she said.
“I hope to learn a bit more teamwork and get more experience for next year.”
Grace will head off to Wollongong on March 6 where she will compete against the state’s best for a spot in the McKillop tennis team.
A St Mary’s Primary School representative said the school is proud of Grace’s achievement, saying the archdiocese requires a great level of skill and ability.
Next year Grace hopes to be successful in trialing so she can represent Hennessy Catholic College.
