It was a token of the family’s appreciation for the health service’s work.
Stan Donges - the father of Margaret Fitzgerald and Robert Donges - died in September last year at the age of 91, after spending more than four years at the village.
Margaret visited Southern Cross last week to present the chair at the “Chatter Box Cafe” - which is open once every three weeks.
It was the first time she had been back to the village since her father died.
She said the donation was due to the family’s appreciation of the care given to their father.
“It’s better for someone else to get use out of it,” Margaret said.
The family also donated Stan’s electric chair.
Chris Chambers, the site manager, said the gesture was appreciated by all at the facility.
“The staff appreciate their work being recognised by the family and it will improve the lifestyle of the residents living here,” she said.
