After some very tough pre-season coaching by coach Damian Collins the boys were primed for a big weekend.
This new-look team lacks a bit of height, but they display heaps of courage and possess some wonderful skills.
The first game was against the West Wyalong Wildcats where the boys combined well, with the game going from end to end at a furious pace.
Angus Jones was a handful for the opposition and scored plenty of goals as he was well aided by Will Cameron and Nelson Hall who were both dynamic in defence creating heaps of opportunities for Harvey McGregor who scored a game high 17 points.
The game changed lead many times but West Wyalong ran out eventual winners.
The next game was a tough and bruising encounter as they played against the Leeton Eagles at 8.30pm.
Thomas McIllhatton worked tirelessly in defence while Ethan Newham was strong in attack, constantly keeping the opposition guessing.
The game was in the balance with Young leading at half time 29-25. Blake Apps was on fire and he had plenty of help with the quick and sharp Liam Stuart and Hayden Penrith.
This was not quite enough and although Young were only down by two at three quarter time Leeton ran out 63 -49 winners.
The last game on Sunday was against the very strong Orange team who were keen to flex their muscles and really made scoring hard for the Young team.
They went through undefeated on the weekend racking up cricket scores.
Although Young tried hard they were never really in this match, but played some very nice entertaining basketball they should feel proud of.
Ethan Newham led by example and never gave up. The boys went down 12-75.
