With $40,800 in price money for the feature race, again supported Harness Racing NSW and Cordina Chicken Farms, the 2480 metre Young Pacing Cup is expected to attract a strong field of pacers from both NSW and Victoria.
Last year’s race was taken out by the Darren Hancock-trained and driven seven-year-old Armbro Operative gelding Teo Enteo who defeated Uncle Wingnut and the Dennis Picker trained Condagen with the local pacer Two Eye See finishing just behind the placegetters.
Teo Enteo has gone on to win eighteen races in his career with fourteen seconds and seven thirds and a prize money total of $232,827 for his owner Phillip Naught who also had success with dual Wagga Cup winner Devised, a horse that has finished third behind Beautide in his illustrious career.
A strong line-up of supporting races include the prestigious Young Oaks $16,250 over 2100 metres for three-year-old mares.
Last year’s Oaks was taken out by the Bettors Delight filly Perfectionist for Nathan Hurst who defeated Freedom Is for Brad Hewitt and the Amanda Turnbull-driven Artista Lombo.
All other races will carry $10,200 for both 1720 and 2100 metre distances.
Although the club has not raced since January 20 secretary/manager Brian Ingram is confident the support from trainers will be forthcoming and the general public will be presented with the highest quality of racing on a track that has had many hours of preparation in readiness for the biggest night of the year.
