In Young 15 members of St John’s Anglican Church congregation have been busily knitting away creating red Flanders fields poppies for display.
They’ve already made over 60 poppies, with more to come.
The initiative is open to anyone, either with a knack for knitting or not, who are invited to the Wednesday morning craft day at St John’s Hall to add to the collection.
According to those already pumping out the poppies, a few extra hands are needed, with assurances the poppies are quite easy to make. Patterns are available at St John’s Hall on Wednesday mornings, as well as online on Google.
The poppies will be displayed at the church’s Anzac Day Remembrance Service at St John’s Church on Sunday, April 26.
The display will be accompanied by a slideshow of old photos.
The women said it’s a good way to remember the ones gone, and the ones who came home.
