Public forums into the future of Young Shire’s governance options kicked off in Koorawatha on Monday night with 20 village residents turning up to have their say.

There were also meetings in Murringo on March 11 and Monteagle yesterday, with the remaining meetings in Bendick Murrell (Monday), Bribbaree (Wednesday) and at Young Town Hall (March 24) still to come.
Council has to make a decision on the future of the shire - including whether to merge with surrounding shires - by June 30.
Mayor John Walker said the public forums would be an important part of council's decision making process.
Council will also be meeting with the Young and District Chamber of Commerce, Young Lions Club, Young Rotary Club and council staff.
General manager Peter Vlatko said it was all part of their communication strategy for their Fit For the Future application.
“We want to make sure we get to everyone," Mr Vlatko said.
