This event was held over four days and was ranked as an international event and run under international rules.
Tyler competed on his horse Kinnordy Gambado (Darby) in two events on Sunday, February 22, and was pitted against some of the best riders and horses in Australia, with one of the competitors recently participating in the World Equestrian Games in Normandy.
There were a number of other Australian representatives also involved in his events and renowned judges came from France, Netherlands and Peru, as well as Australia, to officiate.
“It was the most nerve-racking event I have competed in,” Kimber said.
“World class competitors were watching you only a couple of metres away.”
With only a few years’ experience in dressage, Kimber was extremely competitive and achieved a personal best score in his first test to finish 10th from 25 competitors and improved his placing to eighth in the second test to being presented with a sash at presentation.
It has been a very busy and rewarding month for Tyler as he also competed at Wagga on March 1 where he was able to take what he had learned from the CDI event and apply it to the Wagga competition.
He finished the day with a first and two second placings - again achieving a personal best score.
The ACT Championships were held on March 7 where Tyler competed at a higher level against some very tough competition.
He was extremely happy with his results which saw him bring home three second placings and the title of Elementary Reserve Champion and Champion Amateur Owner Rider.
Kimber would like to acknowledge and thank his coach and friend Sue Walker for all her encouragement and guidance over the last couple of years but especially the last six months as he would not be competing at the level he is without her help.
