There is nothing "povo" (poverty stricken) about the Melbourne address that served as spoilt teenager Ja'mie King's home on the set of comedian Chris Lilley's ABC series, Ja'mie: Private School Girl.

The "hot as" property has sold for a sum speculated to nudge eight figures.

That price is out of the league of most house hunters, but as Ja'mie once said, "some of you come from povo families, but that's not your fault".

The genteel residents of Armadale will surely miss Ja'mie's acid tongue observations, such as, "I love your bins - they're so random".

The 1070-square-metre residence in a French Chateau style was only developed about four years ago as the family home of Glenn and Jennifer Eagles, directors of prestige construction group, Glenneagles Homes.

It rises three levels from an 847-square-metre block in tree-lined Adelaide Street, considered with parallel boulevards of Huntingtower and Mercer roads, as a blue-ribbon Melbourne belt.

Shortly after the mansion was built, it was leased to the ABC for Lilley's TV production.

In one pool party scene, dozens of students packed the backyard as extras.

Kay & Burton's Ross Savas negotiated the off-market deal late last year but declined to comment on the sale, as did the Eagles, who recently lodged plans to build another home nearby.

At its rumoured $9 million, the mansion would be one of Armadale's most valuable homes, but it is not the suburb's biggest sale.

In 2007, businessman David Cramond sold for $16 million an Armadale property he had bought from the Yooralla Society of Victoria for $7 million five years earlier.
