It wasn’t a great start to the weekend for McCorkindale who didn’t get an ideal qualifying time due to the wet weather.
He also lost three points due to contact in Race 1 and was pushed back to position nine in Race 2.
Geoff Emery and John Goodacre were left clear in the lead after lap leader Ryan Simpson was run off the circuit at turn one. This was until McCorkindale came through the field to join the leading duo, posting a new lap record in the process.
That lap record by David Reynolds has stood since 2007.
McCorkindale passed Goodacre for second on the final lap but could not challenge Emery for the win.
After a challenging weekend McCorkindale gained second on the podium, behind first place Ryan Simpson and third place Dylan O’keefe.
The next round will be held 12-14 June at Winton where the first round of the Jim Richards Endurance Trophy will be held.
