About 4pm Thursday, emergency services were called when a 39-year-old man crashed a Toyota Rav 4 into a power pole on Nasmyth Street.
Police said the man crossed onto the wrong side of the road and collided with two bins before mounting the gutter and colliding with a power pole.
NSW Fire and Rescue assisted paramedics to remove the man from the vehicle.
Police are waiting on the results of drug and alcohol testing after requesting blood and urine samples.
Police said the power pole had to be replaced.
The man was conveyed to hospital sustaining only minor injuries.
Essential Energy Regional manager Southern, Steven Ilitch, said the power supply of about 1,500 homes was affected after the crash.
“Crews were dispatched immediately from Young Depot and identified that a car had come into contact with a power pole in Nasmyth Street,” Steven said.
“The safety of the site was secured and power was restored to the majority of customers within an hour. Supply was restored to all customers by 9.15pm after crews had replaced the power pole and repaired damaged underground network equipment.
“We encourage residents to report network damage, any fallen powerlines, fires or trees contacting powerlines to Essential Energy on 13 20 80 as soon as possible.”
