We welcomed seven new members, bringing the total to 29 new members for 2015.
Congratulations to Kath Smyth, Bede Neylan and Joyce Lamb who were presented with branch life membership.
Any member who is over 90 years of age, who has attended regular meetings for over 10 years, and are still attending meetings are now eligible for life membership, after discussion with head office.
Congratulations to Connie Drover who has clocked up 30 years of membership and attendance and also to Jan Walker who has been a member for 10 years. Connie and Jan were presented with a certificate each as a thank you.
We have had a change to our Wilkinson’s coach trip to Braidwood. Unfortunately we can only take 24 bookings because we will be travelling in a 25 seater coach and we need to keep a seat for our guide. The price has been reduced by $6. Our coach trip to Darlington Point to the Altina Wildlife Park and Zoo Safari on Friday, April 17 now leaves the Young Railway Station at 7.30am and our bus trip to Quandary Rail and to Ariah Park picks up from 7.30am. Ad does the bus trip to Kingston to the Old Bus Depot markets.
Our special day out for Mother’s Day for a three hour excursion on the historic Bungendore Express on Sunday, May 3 leaves the Young Railway Station at 8.15am, travelling with Wilkinson’s coaches to Canberra and return.
This old rail motor day out is the day before our monthly meeting on May 4.
We will again celebrate Mother’s Day at the Wombat Hotel on Friday, May 8 at a cost of $13 for roast pork or roast beef, baked and steamed veggies, drinks, orange juice and sweets and chocolates.
After lunch we will be visiting the Stephanie Alexander kitchen garden and chooks at the Wombat Public School. We will be giving them a small donation of $50 towards their garden as a thank you.
On Saturday, May 16 we will be travelling with Wilkinson’s to Batlow and Adelong to the Apple Cider Festival, with a tour in the afternoon at a subsidised cost of $25 and a free morning tea of sandwiches, cookies and cakes. This leaves the railway at 7.45am. Ring social secretary Dot on 6382 2994 for itinerary and bookings.
