After a tough season, the boys knew it would be a tougher weekend as they would only have five players for their first game due to injuries and holidays.
This new-look team lacked a bit of height, but they displayed heaps of courage and played with a passion beyond their years.
Their first game was against the West Wyalong Wildcats who were running second in Division 1.
The boys combined well, passed the ball around well but poor execution let the game slip with West Wyalong ruthless in their attack.
Harvey McGregor was a handful for the opposition when he had the ball and he was well aided by Will Cameron and Blake Apps who both played very strong games.
Liam Stuart and Hayden Penrith gave their all but it was not enough as West Wyalong ran out eventual winners.
The next game against the Lithgow Lazers at 8pm was a great spectacle for the crowd as the game went from end-to-end with Young taking the early lead with the quick and sharp Liam Stuart and Hayden Penrith rising to the challenge to play their best games.
Will Cameron worked tirelessly in defence while newboy Clay Sing - who had already played footy earlier that day - travelled over to help the boys out. Thanks heaps.
Clay was strong in attack, constantly keeping the opposition guessing.
The game was in the balance with Harvey McGregor combining well with Blake Apps, but Lithgow eventually took home the competition points.
The last game on Sunday was against the Dubbo Rams. The last time these teams met it was a brutal affair with Young prevailing.
Young got off to a great start, scoring the first basket and taking a good early lead.
Teamwork was the key during this match, especially between Clay and Hayden, with Liam making the game difficult for Dubbo.
Harvey and Blake played some very nice entertaining basketball, thrilling the crowd at times and they were well supported by Will who top scored in all three games.
The boys never gave up and should feel very proud of the effort they put in all weekend.
Dubbo snuck home in the end.
Thanks to our coach Damian Collins for everything you do and Shaun Stuart for managing.
Well done boys!
