About 10 officers were involved in the operation, including local police and members of the Target Action Group based in Cootamundra, not forgetting the sniffer dog which was on secondment from Wagga.
Young Police Inspector Ashley Holmes said it was all part of an ongoing effort to curb drug crime in town.
“It was a targeted operation that we conduct from time to time when resources are available,” he said.
“We’re really putting people on notice that police can arrive with a dog at any time.
“We want people who might possess or who want to deal in drugs on notice that we’ll be making every effort to catch them.”
The operation saw officers target the front of the courthouse, the streets of the CBD and inside local pubs.
Inspector Holmes said police would be continuing their efforts to crack down on drugs.
“We want to reduce the availability of drugs in our community as much as possible to protect the community from the destruction of lives that drugs can cause,” he said.
“This sort of operation will be conducted periodically from time to time.”
While Inspector Holmes said he was generally pleased the operation didn't catch too many people out, a teenager was nabbed with a small quantity of ice.
The 18-year-old was pulled over while driving on Prospect Street.
His car was searched with the help of the sniffer dog.
The teen was issued a field court attendance notice for possession and will face court at a later date.
