This Saturday is Round 2 after a very successful gala day last week to start our junior soccer season.
We welcome all newcomers to the club and wish all players a successful year.
Just a reminder the Young Lions Soccer Club in conjunction with Western Football NSW are conducting skill-based training for specific age groups every Wednesday.
There will be no cost for this training.
Doug McKenzie is the group co-ordinator and did a great job last Wednesday.
Times are as follows for those people who are interested in some extra training.
Under 6/7 - 3.30pm to 4pm.
Under 8 - 4pm-4.45pm.
Under 9/10 - 4.45pm to 5.30pm.
Under 11/12 - 5.30pm to 6.15pm.
Under 13/14 - 6.15pm to 7pm.
To make things easier for parents and coaches, our Under 5s, Under 6s and Under 7s will be training every Saturday half an hour before their game. Teams will have to check the draw as some teams will have to travel to Grenfell and Boorowa throughout the year.
A huge thank you to Jodie Schofield for taking on the canteen manager’s job. It was a baptism of fire and you did an amazing job, and a big thank you to all the parents that helped out on the day.
Although we have had ample registration days we have still had an influx of late regos which has made it extremely difficult to pick teams.
For all those who have still not paid or registered you are asked to be at the Gus Smith clubhouse between 7.30am and 8.30am on Saturday.
Unless you are new to town this will be your last opportunity. Just because you do register this Saturday there is still no guarantee that we can accommodate all players as some age groups are filling up quicker than others.
To all the families who have been reshuffled to make new teams, we apologise for any inconveniences caused but we believe maximum participation is of the upmost importance.
Children wanting to referee - we will have a board at the clubhouse to put your name on. Glenn Payne will commence Part 1 of our Introductory to Refereeing course next week, upstairs at the Young S & C Club.
There is a zero tolerance policy on all referees. That means no negative comments.
For all managers and coaches we thank you and remind you there will be a meeting next Tuesday at the Young Services Club.
Details will be on our website.
With the new season kicking off, the club encourages everyone to abide by their Codes of Behaviour as referred to in our Competition Rules.
The Codes of Behaviour provide the basis for fair play for young people and encourage fun, friendly and safe environments.
The club is a registered employer with NSW Department of Sport & Recreation. NSW Law requires all people voluntarily involved with children (18 or younger) to complete a volunteer/student declaration form and provide confirmation of ID to the Club’s Member Protection & Information Officer (position vacant).
The club asks that any parent or guardian, who does not want their child’s photo taken or published, to please let us know as soon as possible.
We all appreciate the efforts of all coaches who volunteer to bring on a team throughout the season, and we will provide advice at the start of the season and assistance throughout.
Parents, be appreciative of your child’s coach’s efforts and consider them by being prompt when collecting your child from trainings and games.
Please acknowledge the hours of constant work that committee members donate just to get this all organised and keep the world game running smoothly, for all our local budding Matildas and Socceroos.
Keep kicking!
