Adam Mark Perrim, 19, of Kooringal, appeared in Wagga Wagga Local Court this week on eight charges, including aggravated dangerous driving occasioning death (escaping pursuit).

It is alleged Perrim was the driver of a Holden Commodore that crashed into a culvert at Wallendbeen about 7pm on May 14, shortly after police called off a pursuit they say reached speeds of up to 200km/h.

A passenger in the car, 20-year-old Ricki-Lee Atkinson, died at the scene, while another female was injured.

Perrim is on remand at the Junee jail and appeared in court by video link.

At the end of Perrim’s matter, his solicitor David Barron said:

“My client has also asked me to place on the record his sincere apology and regret at the death of Ricki-Lee.”

Perrim has not yet entered pleas to the charges, which also include dangerous driving causing bodily harm, unlicensed driving and police pursuit.

Magistrate Erin Kennedy ordered the prosecution to give Mr Barron a brief of evidence by June 29.

She adjourned the case to Cootamundra Local Court on July 6 for Mr Barron to reply to the brief.

Should Perrim be convicted of any of the alleged offences, he will be re-sentenced on two 18-month good behaviour bonds he entered into on February 13 after pleading guilty to the common assault of his mother and step-mother in September last year.

Perrim did not apply for bail, and it was formally refused.
