Dawn and her daughters have spent the last few days busily cooking all manner of slices, biscuits and cakes in preparation for the event,
It’s the one day of the year 18 Wombat Street becomes the most popular address in town as hordes of visitors -some bearing goodies of their own - turn up to support Dawn’s efforts for the Cancer Council.
“This is the one time I wish my walls would expand,” a passionate 87-year-old said of her little cottage.
The event has become so popular in town, Dawn’s become an annual page one girl on The Witness.
Her doors will be open between 9am and 5pm where her three daughters Kathleen Johnson, Donna Smith and Lyn Anderson will take over the reins so Dawn can play hostess.
“The people of Young are good,” Dawn said.
“I don’t think there’s too many towns that pull together like Young does.”
