Time4Kids has become a major annual fundraiser for the PCYC and programs for youth at risk.
This year’s event starts today with a non-traditional style “lock-up” and finishes with a golf day at the Young Golf Club on Sunday.
“Every year we usually lock someone up in the street,” Martin said.
“This time we’re going to have an empty cage and we’ll be raising money to keep it empty.
In doing so the club is returning to old traditions which date as far back as the 1960s with a four person ambrose fundraiser starting at 11am, with registrations in by 10.30am at the pro shop.
“There used to be golf, bowls and shooting days in the past - one in 1965 and another in 1969 - fundraising for the PCYC,” Martin said.
Thanks to the generosity of local businesses and individuals, the $5000 raised from last year helped the PCYC launch after school and vacation care programs with a fully dedicated room and qualified carers.
Martin said their goal was to raise more this year.
Some of the money raised will go toward the construction of a $30,000 dance and martial arts room at the northern end of the stadium.
