Cr John McGregor, at the council’s May meeting, was full of praise for the Young Family History Group for the display they assembled for the 2015 Anzac Day centenary celebrations.
The display, mounted at the Young Town Hall, provided details of locals who served overseas during The Great War and Cr McGregor described it as outstanding.
“I just thought it was fantastic,” he said.
The 2015 Seniors Week committee was singled out for congratulations by Councillor Sandy Freudenstein.
“I’m actually on that committee and they do put in a lot of time and effort into the dropping of brochures and organising activities- it’s a very successful week and I think the whole committee deserves a letter of congratulations,” she said.
She also suggested council write and congratulate Richard Gordon and Bernie Power for their efforts for Legacy.
Thirty years of providing care and assistance to dependants of soldiers killed in active service had resulted in recognition for the two local war veterans by the national charity organisation.
To mark the occasion, Mr Gordon and Mr Power were presented with engraved silver trays by Wagga Legacy president David Scoble at a special presentation in Wagga.
