The Yabbies had all the early running, jumping out to a 17-nil lead at half-time before the Tuskers stormed back into the contest.
Temora reduced the margin to five points before the Yabbies bounced away to score their second win since the split.
The win extends their advantage over third-placed Wagga City but after two byes they’ll face bigger tests against CSU and City.
Co-coach Aaron Seaman said the disruption wasn’t ideal but is looking forward to the challenge.
“We will probably have a hard week of fitness this week and use the bye to our advantage that way,” Seaman said.
“It will be good to go out to Wagga and play Reddies before Wagga City come up here.
“We still have a lot of work to do.”
Sam Bunny led the way for Young while Danny Arabin and Corey Randall also had strong games.
The Yabbies’ win moves them six points ahead of Wagga City.
