At a special meeting held last Thursday evening, the council resolved to rescind the motion to appoint a tender from the four applications received - one of them a late application.
General manager Peter Vlatko said the sewer conveyance main was the main arterial pipeline that ran from the industrial estate west of the town and the few kilometres down to the sewage treatment plant at Burrangong.
He said that the existing pipeline was 70 years old and in need of replacement.
“It’s a multi-million dollar project and because of that it’s important we re-tender to get a better competitive price,” he said.
He said the nature of the contract meant the process could take a further six months.
