The accident, involving a 34-year-old Mudgee woman, occurred at 8am on Saturday in Stockinbingal.
Cootamundra Local Area Command crime manager Detective Inspector Paul Huxtable said the woman claimed that she was tired and fell asleep at the wheel.
He said it was fortunate there were no other cars on the road at the time of the accident.
“Police ask that drivers be conscious of their position,” he said, “8am on a Saturday morning is a time when many families are driving children to sporting events.”
“So if you are tired pull over and sleep,” Detective Inspector Huxtable said.
POLICE have confirmed no action will be taken against the driver involved in an incident involving a pedestrian in Boorowa Street, Young on Friday, May 8.
