If one's wedding is to include fireworks, a convoy of 50 luxury cars, a plane towing a message of congratulations and four helicopters, one cannot skimp on the pre-wedding video.

The groom, Salim Mehajer, understood this. So the young deputy mayor of Auburn - whose  "out of control" nuptials shut down parts of the suburb of Lidcombe on Saturday - turned to professionals.

A month before the big day, Mr Mehajer employed a cinematographer, an assistant, a sound engineer and a narrator. The team spent at least 15 hours filming at locations such as Sydney University and the Opera House. The editor laboured for a week.

The result? A two minute movie-trailer describing what happens when "a man who has it all" has his life "turned upside down".

The tale begins with Mr Mehajer as a young student, purple cap worn backwards. Across the lawn at Sydney University he spies a beautiful young woman: Aysha. Time freezes.

Next we see Mr Mehajer transformed. The old jumper has been replaced by a white wool cable-knit. Gallantry is very much alive when he stoops to pick up Aysha's books after they bump into one another beneath a sandstone arch.

Of course, there had to be tension.

"For seven years his parents waited patiently for him to get married, seven years of tears, worry and uncertainty," the narrator tells us as we see Mr Mehajer's parents berate him. But we are assured that this couple "are willing to face the entire world, determined to cross all lines".

Eventually, after an accelerating montage of fast cars and hand-holding, Mr Mehajer is down on one knee. The answer is yes. The couple are now finally ready to live, happily - ever - after.

Manuel Abdo, whose True Dreams Media company made the short film, said it played as an introduction to "the best wedding I've ever been to".

"It's a personal joke," Mr Abdo said of the pre-wedding video genre. Whereas some couples choose music videos to parody, the Mehajers went with high stakes romantic thriller.

Mr Mehajer angered parts of his constituency with a wedding one police officer described as "out of control". Residents in one street were asked to clear their cars. Bikies turned up. Local police have said they will ask regional command to send the family a bill for the disruption.

But Mr Abdo described his client as "very kind", the type of man who can put everyone at ease.

"I don't really know him that well but when you deal with him in professional life, he's a true gentleman."

And what about Mr Mehajer's acting?

"Seven out of 10," Mr Abdo said. "A high seven," he added after a pause.
