Firefighters have contained a large blaze that broke out at a boatshed in Gladesville on Thursday morning and sent a large plume of black smoke over Sydney's north-west.

About 50 firefighters battled the blaze, which broke out at the boatshed near Gladesville Hospital about 9.40am.
Superintendent Brad Smith, from Fire and Rescue NSW, said the fire was contained just after 10am, but firefighters found a number of LPG cylinders near the blaze.
"We're concentrating on cooling those cylinders now," Superintendent Smith said.
"We do have the fire contained to the boatshed, which means it's not going to spread any further. Firefighters are continuing to extinguish that fire and put out hotspots."
He said about 10 fire trucks were at the scene due to the remote location of the boatshed, which was in bushland on Bedlam Bay.
The cause of the blaze is not yet known, but it sent large amounts of black smoke into the sky that could be seen from the city.
