Warwick Stakes favourite First Seal swept the NSW racehorse of the year awards on Thursday night taking home a trio of trophies including  horse of the year. First Seal won the Flight Stakes and was runner-up in another three group 1s, which gave her an easy win under the points system used in the awards. She was also named three-year-old of the year and the Queen Of The Autumn. Trainer John Thompson was more focused on Saturday than Thursday night and believes she has come back a strong mare. "She is ready to go after a couple of good trials and we are going to take the weight-for-age path," Thompson said. "She is a lot stronger but she is going to have to be when she takes on all comers." Pride Of Dubai's two group 1 wins in the Blue Diamond and Sires Produce Stakes tipped out Golden Slipper winner Vancouver for two-year-old of the year honour. The sprinter award went to TJ Smith winner Chautauqua, while Royal Descent won the miler category. Queen Elizabeth Stakes winner Criterion was middle distance horse of the year, while Sydney Cup winner Grand Marshal was stayer of the year. Scissor Kick, prepared from Scone by Paul Messara, won the country horse of the year and Kris Lees-trained  Lucia Valentina, which won the Turnbull Stakes, took home the provincial award.
