Students have been studying transport and how it helps in day-to-day life.
One student said billycarts helped by, “making our days fun getting from one place to another”.
One teacher, Kim Wise, was excited to have Bunnings in Cowra sponsor the event.
Bunnings supplied over $2000 worth of materials.
Each billycart kit was pre-cut by the Bunnings staff to make life a little easier for students on the day.
The store transported the supplies over, with representatives staying to direct the billycart construction.
Volunteers also helped supervise the six and seven-year-old students with the construction including those from the Young Men’s Shed and parent helpers.
Students worked in groups of two or three to make 14 fully-functioning billycarts.
Miss Wise and Miss McMillan were very proud of how the students displayed the school’s values of Respect, Responsibility and Empathy throughout the project.
Hopefully, a billy cart derby will take place next term!
