The annual mayoral election took place on Wednesday night at 5pm in the Council Chambers where two nominations - Brian Ingram and John Walker - were put forward.
The vote was tied at 4-all, which forced proceedings to turn to a name being drawn out of a hat.
Cr Brian Ingram - who is serving his first term with Young Shire Council - was the man named for the top job.
