For the last 25 years organisers of the international over 40s social club have organised annual trips to country towns, and fortunately enough this year is Young’s turn.
The 100-strong group arrived in town yesterday and plan on staying until Sunday, September 27.
During their visit members from as far away as South Australia, Victoria and Queensland will experience all Young has to offer. This includes a visit to a local winery, a distillery, the Chinese Gardens and of course Poppa’s Fudge and Jam Factory.
Members will also enjoy two scenic rides around the region to take in the beautiful countryside filled with canola and blossoming cherry trees.
But members also wish to meet the locals, and what better way to do so than to invite the community to check out their motorbikes at the Young Services Club carpark at 10am on Saturday morning.
Organiser John Robinson is encouraging locals to come along, have a chat and take photos with the motorbikes.
“We’re a hands-on group and encourage kids to get on the bikes and touch them - it’s an opportunity to get close and personal,” he said.
Mr Robinson said the annual ride is the member’s’ main outing for the year, and is a sure way to support small communities by means of accommodation, meals, fuel and of course, shopping.
