The footage, uploaded to YouTube last week by user Steve Midz, shows a motor-scooter rider (believed to be the uploader) engaging in an expletive-ridden argument with a very angry driver near Hull, on England's north-east coast.

In the video, which has since gone viral, the man in the Citroen says calmly to the motorcyclist: "Do you know who I am?"

The bemused motorcyclist replies. "What?"

"Do you know who I am?" the driver repeats, leaning forward in his seat.

"Do I care?" he retorts, before goading the driver: "Come on, who are you then?"

"Ronnie Pickering," the man replies.

"Who?"

"Ronnie Pickering!" the driver explodes, barely able to contain his outrage.

"Who the f---'s that?" says the motor scooter driver.

"Yeah, me," says Ronnie with all the self-assurance of a man who knows exactly how important it is to be a Ronnie Pickering.

"Oh, well. Brilliant!" says the exasperated motorcyclist, before ridiculing Ronnie: "You someone famous, are you?"

Clearly affronted by the motorcyclist's lack of respect for him, Ronnie Pickering accelerates after the moped driver before the two pull over again.

Now the argument continues over Ronnie Pickering's wife, who has the weary look of a woman who has heard the Ronnie Pickering routine far too many times.

This time, Ronnie Pickering isn't simply content with a war of words and challenges the scooter rider to a "bare-knuckled fight" in the street.

"I'll f---ing show you then who I am!" he bellows out the window.

The motorcyclist continues to goad Mr Pickering before he says he will post the video on YouTube and drives off.

The exchange has been viewed more than half a million times since it was posted on Reddit.

Some began to speculate who Ronnie Pickering is, with hilarious results.

"I once saw him scissor kick Angela Lansbury. He used to drive an ice cream truck covered with human skulls. That man is an 8 foot, 2 ton monster who can palm a medicine ball. You're lucky to be alive!" wrote one Redditor.

While on Twitter others began to use it as a term to describe an uncontrollable rage.

And Oasis frontman, Liam Gallagher, offered his wisdom on the matter.

And others seemed to be offering to take up Ronnie's offer of a bare-knuckle fight.

And of course it didn't take long for a Twitter account to spring up in homage to the Hull hard man, (@IAmRonniePick), but Twitter quickly suspended it.

However it appears the real Mr Ronnie Pickering in fact goes by the name of Ron and has a Facebook account, which says he's from Kingston Upon Hull.

According to his Facebook profile, Ron Pickering's favourite quote is "does a one legged duck swim in circles".
