Bunny, who is no stranger to top level polocrosse and competition, has an impressive resume which includes selection in numerous teams for the last 23 years.
Still, the Harden Polocrosse Club member takes it all in his stride and has never forgotten why he started playing the fast-paced sport many years ago.
“I rode my first horse when I was five years old,” Bunny said.
“I love horses and come from a horse-riding family.
“Yet it was the love of horses and the physical nature of polocrosse that got me hooked,” he said.
“They say the sport is like rugby on a horse.”
Bunny made his first representative side in 1992 when playing for WA, he qualified for the national titles held in Forbes.
Since then Bunny has represented WA in 1994 and 96 in the Open Mens and then the NSW Over 40s side at Camden in 2006, among the countless other accolades and selections throughout his glittering career.
Yet, Bunny takes it all in his stride.
“I've made some great friends out of it and it keeps you fit and active,” he said.
But it isn't all fun and games as the sport still retains a serious level of competition and participation.
“Preparations for the nationals will go into full swing just after Christmas,” Bunny said.
“We will start prepping horses and my horse Toohey, a registered Australian Stockhorse, will be no different.
“Then we will make the trek to Albury for what promises to be another great event!”
And does he have any idea whether this will be his final national meet before he rides off into the sunset?
“To be honest I haven't thought about hanging up the boots,” Bunny said .
“At the moment I am enjoying it and will try to ride horses and compete for as long as I can.”
