After a disastrous 2013 where the South-East Australian Basketball League side won just one game, the Gunners won eight of 24 games in 2014, although 11 losses were by five points or less.

McEachin confirmed he would "throw his hat in the ring" to retain his job.

"They're trying to be a bit more transparent in everything that happens," McEachin said.

"I'll throw my hat in the ring, it's up to them to decide whether they want me back. I live here, I'm prepared to do this long-term but if someone's more qualified and prepared to make that commitment, it's an interesting decision for them to make."

McEachin said he wasn't given his player signing budget for this year until January, long after most rival teams, but was confident Basketball ACT's new structure had the Gunners better-placed than they have been in years.

"The program moving forward is in a really good position now," McEachin said.

"I'm pretty confident regardless of the coaching appointment it's going to be guided a lot better."
