Marion Jones was horrified to receive aggressive messages the day after she posted his name and address on her social media page, saying she didn’t expect to get threatened as a result of her post.

"I was totally shocked and disappointed that because I'd done something with good intention I was being targeted in this violent way,” she said.

"I didn’t think naming him would have this result," she admitted.

“I'm not a vigilante and I'm not trying to incite fear, I just wanted to make people aware of the dangers to the children and families in our neighbourhoods.”

After publishing the post, Ms Jones was sent a disturbing message the following day, part of which read:  "I have pictures of your kids. Take it off Facebook now you c--- or you know what will happen. I will shoot the lot of your kids, your man and then you.”

The message, which the mother of three admits was “severely distressing”, also had images of guns.

Ms Jones reported the incident to police, who responded immediately to the threats.

"Initially the police asked me why I put the post up,” Ms Jones said. 

“And I told them I did it because I have kids and I think the community deserves to know the dangers in their neighbourhood. 

"This wasn't just for my kids, but for the safety of all kids in the town, because people have a right to know if there are paedophiles walking around near their children."

Inspector Peter Robinson of the Wagga Police said the matter was being investigated and taken seriously, but could not give any more information regarding the case.

Despite sleepless nights and the fear Ms Jones has felt since the threats, she does not regret her actions of publicly naming the offender.

 "I don't think I've done anything wrong,” she said. “Families should be warned about people like this in our community. They ruin children's lives and it's just not good enough to trust that our kids are safe.”
