News of the interest in Green fighting for the crown in Germany emerged after Mundine's crushing defeat to American Charles Hatley in Melbourne on Wednesday night. The loss was a terrible body blow to their long-awaited rematch.

Green, 42, said his performance against Germany's Konni Konrad in Melbourne's on December 2 would determine whether there's any life left in the rematch before revealing discussions are taking place with Braehmer's camp.

"We've had offers from the Germans for Juergen Braehmer and also one of their cruiserweights," Green said. "There's other options, Mundine is definitely not the only fight for me.

"I'm lucky to have recognition overseas because having fought the likes of Krzysztof Wlodarczyk, Markus Beyer, Eric Lucas, Antonio Tarver, Roy Jones and BJ Flores means you're in the mix if an opportunity comes up.

"That's how we got the opportunity with Konrad. He fought Braehmer in September and I'll fight him, see how it goes and see what happens from there.

"Christian Meyer, [the general manager of the company that] promotes Juergen Braehmer, has spoken on numerous occasions to [trainer and advisor] Angelo Hyder about me fighting in Germany for the world title.

"I'm tempted. I'm performing well at training; feeling pretty good."

Green said while the temptation to try to add another world title to the four he's already won was obvious, he stressed there was a lot to settle before committing to another gruelling campaign.

"It would be massive, it'd be a fairytale to win it," he said. "But, it's tough. It's tough because while my mind and body is 'there' it's just a question of whether my body could handle the stress and strain.

"I'm training smart and having put two preparations closely together [Green fought Argentina's WBC Latino light heavyweight champion Roberto Bolonti in August] has been beneficial to me.

"We knew the fights would be close together but we had such a long layoff I wanted to make sure I wasn't rusty. I'm happy in the gym, the sparring is going well."

Green must first focus on defeating Montenegrin-born Konrad, who is 12 years his junior and the former WBC youth world super middleweight champion and a one-time holder of the WBA International light heavyweight crown.

"He's very strong, he has a powerful 'claw' and lets his combinations go," said Green. "He's 30 years old, he's had 22 [wins] and two [losses] and his last fight was in September for a world title.

"Although that was a loss, he has that youthful vitality about him and from that world title shot he'll have learned a lot about preparation, nerves, the whole thing. He'll come to the big stage less overawed and he'll know if he defeats me it'll open a lot of doors to him."

Green conceded the pressure was on him to keep any hope of the Mundine fight alive.

"It's heaped pressure upon me to ensure I win," he said. "If I'm not victorious, I'm out and I've put myself in that corner because the Australian public were calling for the rematch with Mundine.

​"I said 'let's do it' but now he's gone and potentially ruined that. It's up to me to keep it alive."
