Students participated in ‘Operation Christmas Child’ - a project of the charity organisation Samaritan’s Purse.
Operation Christmas Child is a unique project that brings joy to children in desperate situations around the world through gift filled shoe boxes.
At Young North it was an opportunity to further develop their value of “Empathy” by sharing and caring on a global scale.
Project co-ordinator Jill Johnson said this year the school reached a record 55 boxes.
The boxes will help provide basic needs among families from countries including Vietnam, Cambodia, Fiji, Thailand, Vanuatu, Papua New Guinea and Samoa.
They will be delivered to those families in time for Christmas.
Children who receive Operation Christmas Child shoe boxes may have never received a gift before and it was this thought that motivated students and their families to give generously.
