In an outbreak of distinctly un-Seinfeldian bonhomie, stars of the 90s sitcom Seinfeld delivered personal birthday greetings to a super-fan stricken with terminal lung cancer.

Favourites including The Soup Nazi (Larry Thomas), Newman (Wayne Knight) and Elaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) recorded video messages for James Anthony Calder for his 67th birthday.
Calder lived near New York City and died three days short of that birthday. He and his family were stunned by the series of personal videos that rolled in from many of his Seinfeld idols.
The messages began arriving after his son James Calder jnr decided to throw a "virtual birthday party" for his desperately sick father and put out the call to the Seinfeld stars.
The response was overwhelming.
"These wonderful people helped to honour and celebrate my father's birthday and provided a much needed distraction during an extremely difficult time for my family," wrote James jnr. "Their kindness and compassion has humbled us to our core."
In all, 16 of the actors sent messages to the dying man.
"In a world where my father's own oncologist could use a lesson in human kindness and compassion, we found a wealth of it from cast members of Seinfeld and readers," added James jnr. "From my family to every single person who helped with this project in any way, thank you so much!"
