The mathematics faculty has two new teachers - Mark Glover, who brings a wealth of teaching experience, having taught in Queensland, Victoria, all over NSW and in a remote indigenous community in central Australia.
Jon Couglin has seven years’ teaching experience and, having moved to Young from Dubbo, he understands the needs of students in regional areas.
Rob Daniels joins the industrial arts faculty from Boorowa Central School where he taught for eight years.
He brings a range of skills and expertise in industrial technology, construction and digital technology that will strongly support students to engage in all strands of computing.
Geoff Parlett’s 35 years of teaching experience in industrial arts will be an asset to Young High School.
He is a skilled craftsman with the expertise to work with both platforms of metal and wood.
Tom Shapcott, who previously taught in Ulladulla, joins Young High’s high performing music faculty.
He is a versitile musician, having expertise across several instruments and is excited about forming this year’s school band.
Tom is looking forward to leading them in their many performances for the Young community.
The PDHPE faculty also welcomes two new staff members - Robert Plain, who has graduated from the University of Newcastle and Samantha Dunk, a Charles Sturt University graduate.
Already well known to many, Sue Sweaney is joining Young High this year as the school councillor.
Sue has many years’ experience supporting students to succeed and she brings with her the skills and expertise to engage with the local community and provide opportunities for students and families.
“The start to 2016 has been fantastic. This year we have aquired the very best in teaching excellence and across all faculties our teachers are already working hard to bring out the very best in each and every student,” school principal Keith Duran said.
“I am really looking forward to working with our new staff, our established staff and the wider community to continue to provide opportunities to our students in our uniquely diverse and very inclusive setting.”
